Akaoa is one of the 10 Electorate in Rarotonga on the West/South side of the island in the Puaikura district.

PARLIAMENTARY SERVICES:

Elected to the Parliament of the Cook Islands for the first time in 2018, general election.

  • Agriculture Committee
  • Privileges Committee.

PUBLIC SERVICE INFORMATION:

The Baker family migrated overseas and most of the Members’ early adult life experience was in the field of arboriculture. He returned home in 1999 and established a “tree management” business – Baker Tree Services.

COMMUNITY SERVICE:

He is an active village contributor in all sectors of the community; tradition, sports and church activities and programs.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATION:

Primary School in Rarotonga. Secondary School – Tereora College.

Migrated in his youth to Australia and trained as an arborist (tree surgeon).

PERSONAL :

A widower in 2019 with 2 children from his first wife Sue nee Nolan. Remarried to Nikki Baker nee Hill in 2020.
