PARLIAMENTARY SERVICES:

Confirmed Member of Parliament of the Cook Islands on 21 December, 2018 following the Rakahanga petition.  Sworn Member of Parliament on 8 April, 2019.

MINISTERIAL APPOINTMENTS :

Elected Party Leader of the Opposition in 2017. 

COMMITTEE SERVICES:

Served as a Member of the following Select Committee:

  • Standing Orders Committee,
  • Privileges Committee, and
  • Immigration Committee.



PUBLIC SERVICE INFORMATION:

Served in Crown Law Office on return from studies and work experience in New Zealand.
After she entered the private sector to practice law. She started her own law business in the 1990s.

COMMUNITY SERVICE:

A keen sportswoman; she served as President of Cook Islands Netball Association for 15 years (1981-1995) and Director of International Netball Federation for 20 years (1999-2019).  Contributed her support to South Pacific Games as Committee and Jury for Netball.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATION:

Primary School – Avarua School. 

Secondary School – Tereora College

Attained a Bachelor of Laws from University of Canterbury in 1974. Admitted to the Bar as Barrister & Solicitor at Auckland University in 1979.
