Ombudsman Swearing in, Mr Nooapii Tearea

Great day at Parliament as we had the swearing in of the new Ombudsman Mr Nooapii Tearea. Nukutere’s College year 10 students were also attended part of the ceremony which was great. Mr Nooapii Tearea was appointed by warrant under the hand of the Queen’s Representative Sir Tom Marsters KBE, acting on the recommendation of the Executive Council,acting on the advice of Cabinet in accordance with section 7 of the Ombudsman Act 1984, to the office of Ombudsman for a term of three years effective from Tuesday 26th of February 2019. Pursuant to section 9 of the Ombudsman Act 1984, the new Ombudsman is required to take the Oath of Allegiance before the Speaker or Clerk of Parliament.
